Harmony Harkema, Editorial Director

Harmony has loved the written word for as long as she can remember. A former journalist and English teacher turned editor, she has spent the past seven years in the publishing industry. A novelist and blogger in the fringe hours of her working-mom life, Harmony also has a heart for leading and coaching aspiring writers, and The Glorious Table is the culmination of those passions. She has more books than her shelves can hold, drinks more coffee than is probably good for her, and likes to unwind her brain at the end of the day by stirring something on the stove or baking whatever sounds good in the moment. A Michigan native who dreams ceaselessly about the Great Lakes shoreline, Harmony currently lives in Memphis, Tennessee with her husband and two small daughters.

Bethany Beams, Creative Director

Bethany Beams is a fourth-generation redhead who can’t get enough of storytelling, which she pursues through website design, wedding photography, and freelance editing. She was born in Texas, raised in Indiana, obtained her English degree at Wheaton College in Illinois, spent the last decade in western New York supporting her husband during his doctoral studies, and now lives in Maryland with him and their young son. Bethany is passionate about pregnant women and new mothers, particularly those dealing with postpartum mood disorders, and is a certified birth doula through DONA International. Her many loves include long naps, libraries, ice cream, singing, chicory flowers, the color turquoise, anything pumpkin-flavored, snow leopards, Bagel Bites, 75° weather, Rome, cornfields, and lists. She believes, along with Julian of Norwich, that “all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.”
