How to Live Limitlessly
Do you want to know how to live limitlessly? It starts with your thinking. You have to begin thinking without limits. The psalmist gave us a clue on how to do just that when he wrote; “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits” (Psalm 103:2). Just take a moment to count your blessings (his benefits) and it won’t be long before you are singing his praises. The psalmist certainly understood this principle and it is recorded as well in Psalm 92:1. “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High.” Your thankfulness actually causes you to magnify the Lord and the result changes your thinking. “O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears” (Psalm 34:3-4). In this Psalm, we see how the psalmist’s thinking was affected by magnifying the Lord. He was able to think big, ask big, and expect big, resulting in receiving big. The Lord heard his prayer and answered him in a big way. He wants to do the same for you.
Thinking big is the first step in seeing big. You think big by acknowledging who God is, by remembering all that he has done for you personally, and by meditating on his Word, which reveals eternal truth about his nature and character. When you begin to see God for who he is, your eyes will be open to just how big he is, and you will be focused on his greatness. In case you never really thought about it, God is a big, big God. He is all powerful, all knowing, and infallible. When we are caught up in our little lives and limited mind-sets we don’t even realize that we have put God in a box and actually limit Him and all that He wants to do for us. God is bigger than your problem, he is bigger than your medical report, and he is bigger than your battle. Just change your focus and you will change your mindset, enabling you to see what he sees and to think like him. God is a big God. He thinks big, and he wants you to think big too. I dare you to step out of your comfort zone, think big by acknowledging God in the midst of your circumstances, and enter into your potential zone. Your potential zone is as big as your thinking allows it to be. So remove all the limits!
Once you are able to think big, you will be motivated to ask big. The truth is: God is for you, God is on your side, He is fighting for you and His love for you is limitless. He wants you to ask big because He wants to do big things in you, through you, and for you. Get it in your spirit – absolutely nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37). So start asking big; go to Him in prayer. He is just waiting to answer that prayer for you. Jesus had a lot to say about how to ask for things in prayer. Consider the following passage from Matthew’s gospel: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8) He said, “Ask, and you shall receive” – not “Ask, and maybe you will receive”. As far as God is concerned it is a done deal. So stop limiting God and limiting your own God-given potential. He wants you to live a life without limits. All you have to do is come into agreement with his Word and what he thinks and just ask – and Ask Big.
Now, asking and asking in faith are two different things. You have to do more than just ask; you have to ask while believing, for it says in James 1:6, “When you ask, you must believe and not doubt.” Moreover, Jesus said, “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:24) Asking big starts when we allow God to grow our faith, since it is so much easier to ask for big things when we have big faith.
And how does faith grow? The answer is found in the book of Romans: “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17) The words that we hear and read have a major impact on our faith level. Spending time in the written Word of God and receiving God’s revealed (rhema) words, which always line up with his written Word, will increase our faith. Do you want to obtain rock-solid faith? The key is to know his Word and to live according to it. As it says in James 1:22-25, we must be doers of the Word and not hearers only. This platform of faith will thrust you into a lifestyle of asking and expecting big things from God.
So, have you put your expectation in him? Are you asking big enough? Are you expecting big enough? I challenge you to put your expectation (your hope) in the Lord; if you do, you will never be disappointed. This is his promise to you in Isaiah 49:23 (NIV): “those who hope in me will not be disappointed.” His love will never let you down. Hoping in him is not just wishful thinking – it is a mindset of confident expectation which will cause you to declare, “I know my God will come through for me.” Let me leave you with the words of Paul in Colossians 2:6-7: “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” Suddenly you will find that your thinking has changed and you will find yourself thinking big, asking big, and expecting big. That is limitless living!

This is really good, although I think the most challenging aspect is thinking big and asking big after a hardship. Recently I prayed and prayed for my best friends sister-34 yrs old with 2 little girls who passed away friday from lung cancer. I know God’s plans are better, but it’s hard to see that right now. She was also not a believer, and either is anyone in her family. I think that’s the hardest part. Anyways, I absolutely love God and have a strong faith, but i’m not gonna lie when I say I feel like my prayers have been more apprehensive and in the back of my mind I think, well i’ll ask this of God, but it might not be answered in the way I want. I’m not sure if that’s praying with believing? Can you pray for something but at the same time recognize God is still the one in control? I feel like that causes some doubting on my part?
